Structural work is the least forgiving thing I do, and the most satisfying.
It goes in early, it’s usually holding something important up, and once it’s painted and boxed in nobody can inspect it again. So it gets done as if somebody will.
Columns and beams in box section and I-section, base and head plates welded on square, bolted down through cast-in anchors, and set out and plumbed on site. Carport and patio frames. Lintels and support steel where a wall is coming out. And on the commercial side, racking and trolleys built to a specific workshop rather than to a catalogue.
I fabricate and install to your engineer’s detail. They certify it.

Common questions
Do you work as a subcontractor for builders?
Yes, and a good share of my work is exactly that. I'm used to working to a detail and to a programme, and to being the trade that everything after it depends on. Tell me your dates up front and I'll tell you honestly whether I can hit them.
Do you provide engineering certificates?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who says they do without an engineer involved. I fabricate and install to the engineer's detail. They inspect and certify. What I'll give you is work that gives them nothing to argue with, full-perimeter welds on base plates, bolted through cast-in anchors, and every column checked for plumb on two faces before the nuts go down.
Can you make racking to fit our workshop?
Yes, and it's usually the better answer. Off-the-shelf racking is designed for pallets, not for sheet material standing on edge, which is how most workshops actually store board. Built to your stock sizes and your floor, the bays divide properly and the frame doesn't rack out of square under load. On mobile versions I size the castors for the loaded weight, which is where shop-bought trolleys normally fail.
How do you handle site work?
Fabrication happens wherever the work can be done most accurately, but structural steel almost always has to be finished in place. I'm set up for site welding and I'd rather do the fitting myself than hand over pieces and hope.
