Bespoke wire lampshade frames
Replacement shade frames bent and welded to match an original woven shade, a set of one-offs, each ring true and each a copy of the last.
The client had one woven shade and needed a set to match it. Nothing off the shelf was the right taper.
So the frames were made: rings formed and closed true, then the verticals set out evenly around them and welded at every crossing. At this wire gauge the weld has to be quick and light, too much heat and the ring distorts, and a lampshade frame that isn’t round is obvious from across a room.
The original sits in the photograph next to the new frames. That’s the test: same taper, same proportions, and enough of them to make a set.
