Hardwood french door restoration
A pair of tired hardwood french doors taken back, repaired and re-oiled in place, cheaper than replacing them, and the timber was far better than anything you'd buy new.
These doors were sound but looking very tired, grey and dried out on the weather side, with the finish gone completely in places.
Replacing them would have cost several times the repair, and the replacement would almost certainly have been a softer timber. So they came back instead: sanded down past the damage, the joints checked and made good, then oiled by hand and left to draw in between coats until the colour came back even across both leaves.
The brass furniture was cleaned up and refitted rather than swapped out.
